Spring 2010 Presidents Message

Spring has arrived and with it one of our busiest seasons. All of you work hard to prep your vessels to get them cleaned and tuned up so that they are ready to provide yet another year of exemplary service to the boating public.  Auxiliary vessels are scrutinized by the boating public so looking good and being seaworthy is important. Your efforts do not go unnoticed.

I would ask that once you are operational, you remember two things.

First, our objective is to have every member certified by the end of this season. So take every opportunity you have to train. If you need to be evaluated or need a course, dont wait for your DTC to come to you. Take the initiative and let them know what you need. To achieve our objective we all must work together.

Finally, and most importantly, think safety.  Lets watch out for each other and make this a zero accident year.

Speaking of working together, the following people graduated from the SAR instructors course which was run in January. Our thanks go to the following individuals.
D1        Peter Windfeld,  Chris Holder
D2        David Elliot, John Grant, Paul Hebbel, Nigel Spink
D3        Clive Warton, Jan Barnewall
Arctic    Scott Buchanan, Trent Atwell, Darren Dragon

Also, our thanks to Mark Gagnon, Don Limoges and Jim Aitken who gave up their weekend to teach the course.

These additional resources should make it even easier for us to achieve our objective of 100% certification by the end of the season.

Remember; Going out is optional. Coming back shouldnt be.

Take Care!

Gary J Endicott - President
